Minister Aglukkaq recognizes Aboriginal Women and Girls affected by Violence
October 04, 2010

In recognition of October 4th as a day to end violence against Aboriginal women and girls across the country, I ask that my constituents and all Canadians take a moment to reflect on our fellow sisters who have fallen victim to acts of brutality.

Many of us can closely identify with the life altering affects of violence, whether directly or indirectly.

Today we must join together as one united voice to speak out against violence and speak up on behalf of the many missing and murdered Aboriginal women and girls across our country.

The reinstatement of the safety and security of Aboriginal women and girls is a goal that will be achieved by working together to spread awareness of the devastatingly high rates of violence.

While there is still work to be done, Canadians are hearing our call for action against violence and our dedication to this cause is stronger than ever.

Please join me today in reflecting on those we have lost. Together we can remain confident that our voices will be heard, putting an end to this national tragedy once and for all.
