OTTAWA, ON – The Honourable Leona Aglukkaq, Member of Parliament for Nunavut, Regional Minister for the North and Minister of Health attended the Santa Claus Parade in Toronto yesterday, where she accepted over 120,000 toys on behalf of children across the North.
“It was a pleasure and an honour to participate in the Toys for the North initiative at the Santa Claus Parade in Toronto,” Aglukkaq said. “It is a wonderful reminder that despite the distance that separates many Canadians, we remain united in spirit through kind and meaningful gestures such as this”.
Minister Aglukkaq would like to thank Peter Beresford, President of the Santa Claus Parade, as well as, the Board of Directors and the thousands of volunteers whose hard work made this initiative possible.
The Minister would also like to thank the Canadian Toy Association for their generous donation of approximately 120,000 brand new toys that will bring joy to many children across the North.
“To Thomson Transport, First Air and the R.C.M.P. who will be responsible for storing, shipping, and ensuring the toys reach their final destinations across the North – thank you - this would not have been possible without you,” Minister Aglukkaq concluded.
