Statement on the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women
December 06, 2011

(Ottawa, ON) -- The Honourable Leona Aglukkaq, MP for Nunavut, today issued the following statement:

On December 6 all Canadians are invited to take a moment and reflect during the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women.

This day marks the tragic deaths of 14 young women at l'Ecole Polytechnique de Montreal in 1989, and serves as a reminder of the reality of violence against women in our society.

I encourage everyone to observe a moment of silence today, wear a white ribbon, and if possible, attend a memorial.

Let's all work together so everyone can live free of violence.
